Upgrading project

Falkenbergs biogas, Sweden

Falkenberg biogas is a joint venture with St1 Biokraft (65%), Falkenberg Municipality (20%) and Ullared Gekås (15%). The production started in 2008.

Falkenbergs Biogas produces vehicle gas and biofertiliser from sources such as food waste, byproducts from the food industry, and manure. The facility has been in operation since 2008, and an expansion is planned to double its capacity.

The project awaits an update on the environmental permit and decision on subsidy from Klimatklivet before final investment decision.

Capacity
Around 35 GWh annually
Planned capacity
70 GWh biomethane annually
Substrates
Manure and organic waste
Status
In operation; expansion planned
