From organic waste to finished biogas
St1 Biokraft produces, upgrades, and distributes biogas in the Nordic region. We operate existing production facilities and develop new ones to increase the supply of biogas.
Our operations cover the entire value chain: purchasing and receiving organic raw materials, biogas production, upgrading, distribution, and sales.
Biogas is produced through the anaerobic digestion of organic material. The gas is then purified and upgraded to biomethane, which can be used as fuel.
At several of our facilities, the gas is converted into liquefied biogas (LBG), which is easier to transport and store in larger quantities. In others, the gas is upgraded to compressed biogas and injected into the grid.

Our Nordic plants
St1 Biokraft operates production facilities in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden and is developing new facilities in the Nordic region. The facilities use various types of organic raw materials, depending on local conditions and the availability of materials.
We're building to increase production
We are developing new facilities and investing in existing production. The goal is to increase the supply of biogas for transportation, maritime, and industry. This development is taking place in collaboration with, among others, the agricultural sector, raw material suppliers, municipalities, and other local stakeholders.
Technology and expertise
Biogas production requires knowledge of feedstocks, microbiological processes, and plant operations. St1 Biokraft works on process development and production monitoring to improve how feedstocks are utilised and how the plants are operated.
