We aim to be the leading Nordic biogas player
Our longterm goals for 2030
St1 Biokraft has ambitious targets to contribute to the green transition. By 2030, our goals are:
- 3 TWh own production of biogas and biomethane
- 6 TWh sales and distribution of biogas and biomethane
- 50% market share in the Nordics
Our Strategy
St1 Biokraft's strategy focuses on three central areas.
A world-class production
To achieve our goal of 3 TWh by 2030, our production facilities must operate safely and reliably. The health and safety of our team members at these facilities are our top priority.
Customer and Market Centric
We aim to make biogas and biomethane more accessible, helping our customers choose sustainable fuel and energy. Our strategy involves significantly increasing our production and distribution capacity by 2030. This includes building new production facilities and filling stations for liquefied biogas (LBG). Our customer segments include heavy-duty transport, maritime, and industrial applications.
Optimize operations for the whole value chain
Our operations span from feedstock procurement for biogas production to the distribution of biogas and biomethane through our filling stations. Optimizing these operations means running our business efficiently and meeting market demand to maximize the value of our biogas and biomethane products. We also evaluate new development projects with an integrated approach to best meet our customers' needs.
Our Customer Segments
St1 Biokraft serves three main customer segments for our biogas and biomethane products. Additionally, we offer several biofertiliser products for agricultural purposes.
Heavy Duty Transports
The heavy duty transport sector is our most important and mature customer segment. The green transition is well underway, with actors in the transport sector already incorporating gas powertrain vehicles into their fleets and planning further investments. According to statistics from the European Commission, heavy duty transports are responsible for a quarter of the total emissions from road transport. By choosing biomethane as fuel, CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 90% compared to fossil fuels.
Maritime
Liquefied biogas, LBG, is one of few options available for the hard to abate maritime industry. It's a growing market segment as the shipping companies invest in gas vessels and infrastructure such as bunkering in ports is made available.
Industrial applications
We see a big potential in converting fossil gas to biogas and biomethane in different industries.
